Lacet House is only a 2 minute walk from Ambleside Town Centre where there are many activities to enjoy inc:

White Platts Recreation Park: with its pitch & putt, tennis courts, bowling green, mini golf and its open green area where you can enjoy an afternoon picnic by the river Rothay as it winds its way down from the Lakeland fells to Lake Windermere.

Choose to visit one of our 3 Cinemas, indoor climbing wall, indoor cave experience, the infamous Bridge House, Stock Ghyll waterfall and the Armitt Museum which provides a source of local history.
Lake Windermere is only a 15 minute walk away where you can enjoy many activities from a picnic by the lake, feed the ducks and swans, hire a kayak or motor boat, join in one of the many water-sports or take one of the many scenic cruise options across the Lake.

Ambleside has many cafes, restaurant’s and pubs to choose from all within walking distance of Lacet House.

Windermere: With the largest natural lake in England, formed in a glacial trough, popular with tourists from the arrival of the Kendal and Windermere Railways branch-line in 1847.

Grasmere: Known for it’s many poets, one being William Wordsworth who lived in Grasmere for 14yrs and who wrote of Grasmere being ‘ the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’. Not to forget the famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop!

Coniston: Where Arthur Ransome drew much inspiration for his children’s novel Swallows and Amazons, and where the world water speed record was held, Donald Campbell setting four successive records in the Bluebird K7 a Hydroplane.

Keswick: Known for it’s ‘Theatre by the Lake’ on the shores of Derwentwater. From May-November a resident company of actors host a summer season of six plays, the theatre also hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year.

Ullswater: Drive through glorious scenery over the Kirstone Pass via Brotherswater & Patterdale to cruise on a steam boat or to see Aira Force waterfall.

Sawrey: The home of Beatrix Potter!

Why not Take advantage of Lacet House’s Free Car Parking (for guests only!) and take a stroll to the shores of Lake Windermere for a leisurely cruise along the Lake or a walk / Hike over Loughrigg Fell, Wansfell or further afield.
